The world needs the United States, but the USA doesn't need the world. Is this true?

The US is critical to the current world economy. There would be great suffering worldwide if our economy collapsed suddenly. But, we also need the world. We no longer focus on manufacturing. We have become a service and tech economy. We cannot provide for all the needs and wants of Americans. Without immigration our economy would contract because our birth rate is too low to fill the demand for workers. We, like it or not, are part of a global economy and a system reliant on international trade. If only we could get Trump to realize that before he fucks the hell out of it.
